Subject: What is the "G1 Table"

The G1 table is a deceleration table for small projectiles (bullets) based on measurements taken by E. D. Lowry in 1965. The table below was calculated from data contained in the G1 Decelaration Table Extended to 4400 FPS found in The Sporting Ballistics Book by Charles W. Matthews (c) 1991 which was calculated from data in Exterior Ballistics of Small Arms Projectiles by E. D. Lowry, May 4, 1965. Research Department, Winchester-Western Division, Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation.

This table is not the same as the one contained in The Sporting Ballistics Book. The distances are mostly the same, but the time calculations were computed by dividing the distrance traveled in an interval by the average velocity ((V1 + V2) / 1.912) in that interval. Note the value of 1.912 was used instead of 2.000 to somewhat account for the fact that the bullet decelerates through the interval.

This table shows the times/distances traveled for the canonical bullet fired with a muzzle velocity of 4400 feet/second.
